WLA continues to assess the workforce landscape in Wilmington, a priority need identified for residents and employers alike is a robust soft skills training program. Many applicants may have the skill sets required to move forward in the hiring process, but do not advance due to soft skills such as interviewing and customer interfacing. WLA drives to make that change.

Workforce Development Placement Grows by 92%!
WLA Members are advocates for the City of Wilmington and are involved in attracting and retaining businesses and talent to the area.
Wilmington Leaders Alliance takes economic growth very seriously. As one of our four core areas of focus, We believe that “Developing Wilmington’s position as a thriving and prosperous city in a 21st-century global economy requires excellence in workforce development. This requires intentional partnerships between employers, investors, training providers, and the government.” Taking the measures to enhance the economy and allow for prosperity will ensure the growth and wealth of this great city.
As Wilmington continues to emerge as a technological hub on a national scale, ventures like Zipcode are linchpins in furthering that progression. With a placement rate of an outstanding 92%, jobs and employment amongst Wilmington’s population is demonstrating growth and expansion in the city.
A Targeted Opportunity
Wilmington employers need entry to mid-level staff that have existing soft skills and customer service training.
WLA Partnering with Generation
Among other successful job training organizations in Wilmington, Generation is a unique provider for the Certified Nursing Assistant and Customer Service Representative professions. For these roles Generation is providing a solution to growing demand and a need for workers with strong character and soft skills. In addition to its existing programs, Generation has the capability to design programs for individual employers or coalitions of employers.
WLA is working with Generation to launch a soft skills job training program for the financial services industry. This program will train for positions in retail banking such as customer facing tellers and customer service call centers. WLA is also exploring new opportunities to address workforce needs and is working with Generation on a program for BlueTech employers in fields such as warehouse services, delivery drivers, service-oriented call centers and more.
