A Collective Approach

WLA provides opportunities to collaborate with other members,  pool ideas and resources to create even greater opportunities for Wilmington and the community. We strive for a collective solution that doesn’t fragment our efforts and results in the highest possible impact.

Membership Levels

Director members are full voting members of Wilmington Leaders Alliance Board of Directors. Director Members are required to attend quarterly board meetings. In addition, Directors are eligible to participate on WLA Board Committees and hold chair/co-chair positions. Director Members will receive regular updates about WLA activities and initiatives; the membership will be noted on WLA’s website and will be eligible to contribute to the WLA website content in the form of news and Wilmington-relates stories.

Advisory members are associate members with no voting power. Advisory members are invited to attend quarterly board meetings. Advisory members are not eligible to hold an officer position within WLA. These members are eligible to participate on WLA Board Committees, but are not eligible to serve in the role as chair/co-chair.

Note: Businesses with 100+ employees are ineligible for Advisory Membership. Advisory Members will receive regular updates about WLA activities and initiatives; the membership will be noted on WLA’s website and will be eligible to contribute to WLA website content in the form of news and Wilmington-related stories.

WLA acknowledges the value of meaningful partnerships with local for profit, not for profit and start-up organizations in the city of Wilmington and surrounding area. These partnerships are particularly meaningful to WLA’s overall mission and 4 areas of focus. WLA strives to engage multiple community stakeholders in collaborative efforts to create change for the city of Wilmington with WLA as the convener. To do so, WLA offers inclusive engagement opportunities through Affiliate Opportunities.

Community-based organizations can become engaged in the WLA through initiatives surrounding WLA’s 4 focus areas: Safety, Education, Leadership & Economic Development. Community-Based Organizations will be invited to exclusive WLA community events and annual member meetings. Community-based organizations will also receive regular updates about WLA activities and initiatives, and are eligible to contribute to the WLA website content in the form of news and Wilmington-related stories.

Businesses located in the city of Wilmington that have been in existence for five years or less can be engaged in the Wilmington Leaders Alliance on this unique membership level. Start-Up Businesses will have access to annual membership meetings and other exclusive WLA events. In addition, Start-Up Businesses will receive regular updates about WLA activities and initiatives; the membership will be noted on WLA’s website and are eligible to contribute to the WLA website content in the form of news and Wilmington-related stories. The Start-Up Business membership opportunity is available only within the first five years of a Wilmington-based company’s inception. After that time has passes, the member can reevaluate their role in the WLA and choose to move to Director or Advisory Membership.
