WLA Member Capital One Opens Headquarters in Wilmington, DE

WLA member Capital One has strengthened its commitment to Wilmington, DE with the opening of its newly remodeled headquarters. After a hiring decline, banking related jobs have rebounded with a surge in an increasingly vibrant fintech scene.

The goal of the renovations was to attract young talent to an industry that is increasingly blurring the lines between technology and finance. The remodel turned the two buildings at 800 and 802 Delaware Avenue into open-space offices with cafes, arcade games, and a resume coaching station.

“We hope that the space provides amenities which make us an employer that (employees) like to work for,” said Capital One Vice President and WLA Board Member Joseph Westcott.

See what Mayor Mike Purzycki had to say about Capital One’s investment:

The bank has roughly 2,000 employees in Delaware and is an active participant in creating workforce development opportunities within Wilmington through WLA’s partnership with Generation. Hear more about their impact in this video with Universal Banker Program graduate, Justice:
